Brow/Forehead Lift
What is Brow Lift Surgery?
A brow lift, also commonly called a forehead lift, rejuvenates the face above the eyes to restore a more refreshed appearance that better reflects a patient’s natural vibrance. By removing excess sagging, skin on the forehead and repositioning the underlying muscles and tissues, a brow lift can correct a heavy, sagging brow, eliminate deep furrows, and restore a smoother, more youthful contour to the upper one-third of the face.
Why Have a Brow Lift?
The problem with an aging forehead is the effect it has on our facial expressions—a sagging, heavily furrowed brow can cause us to look constantly tired, worried or even angry. Some of us are also genetically inclined to have a heavier, thicker brow, making us look as though we are wearing a frown even when we are feeling our best. A brow lift directly addresses these issues, helping patients enjoy a more naturally refreshed appearance as well as other positive changes:
Others may find you more approachable, as they no longer mistakenly perceive you as angry or concerned
Your eyes will appear brighter and more naturally alert
Self-confidence can improve as you are no longer worried about looking “worried”
A brow lift raises drooping eyebrows, smoothes deep furrows & rejuvenates the eyes.
Many procedures can be performed endoscopically, greatly reducing incision size and minimizing recovery time.
Incisions are hidden behind the hairline, so scarring is virtually undetectable.
Patients typically return to work about 1 week after surgery.
A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift or forehead rejuvenation, is a cosmetic procedure that addresses the effects of aging on the face - raising droopy eyebrows, smoothing out facial furrows, and giving your eyes and forehead a youthful appearance by raising the soft tissue and skin of the forehead and brow.
This procedure can be done alone or with other facial procedures, such as eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) or a facelift.
When It's Helpful
Aging generally causes the brows to droop because the skin and soft tissue lose their elasticity. The distance between the eyebrows and eyelashes also shortens.
The lower position of the eyebrows can give you an angry, tired, or even sad appearance. A brow lift can raise the eyebrows and give you a more rejuvenated and refreshed look. You may want to consider a brow lift if you have a low or sagging brow that's contributing to sagging upper eyelids.
Dr. Toriumi will consult with you about the results you can reasonably expect from the surgery. He may suggest that you can achieve the best results by combining a brow lift with other procedures like a facelift or neck lift to further enhance your appearance.
Procedure
For the brow lift, Dr. Toriumi will use one of two common brow lift methods. The conventional incision method requires making a few very small inconspicuous incisions within the hairline, across the top of the scalp, or just above the brow. Another option involves using an endoscope, requiring a smaller incision. This second option leaves even smaller, more indistinguishable incision scars.
